Volume 4 - Manga Summary of Vampire Game - by JUDAL
Act 14 - Summary drafted by PrincessIshtar.com Staff Member: Megan at lilac_mermaid@yahoo.com
[Scene: A woodcutter's cottage in the forest]
The woodcutter is yelling at his daughter, telling her to move her "lazy carcass and make breakfast!" Meanwhile, Kyawl-form Duzell is looking a horse thinking that he'll take Ishtar's form and use the horse to get back to the coliseum (and hopefully make it in time to fight). The cottager's daughter then shows up with a bucket in her hand, looking quite grumpy. "If my life were a fairy tale, the handsome prince would be making his entrance right about now…" she complains, right before looking up and noticing the absolutely naked Duzell (in guy Ishtar form). The girl (of course) freaks out and throws the bucket at Duzell's head before running out screaming. Duzell, back in kyawl form, cautiously exits while the girl tells her dad that "There's this really hot, naked weirdo in the stable!!!" The woodcutter (a big, burly man with impressive muscles) then proceeds to check his daughter's head for a fever.
[Scene change: Vampires are swirling around a frustrated Darres and Murra.]
Darres notes apprehensively to himself that he can't hit the vampires, let alone get rid of them. Desperate, Darres asks Yujinn if he's sure that his (Darres') weapons can't hurt vampires. Yujinn replies with a short and honest answer: "Nope." Internally, Yujinn thinks "Darres is doing pretty well considering that Darred merely has a sword." Yujinn explains further that (unfortunately for Darres) a magic weapon, ability to cast a high level spell, or a ruelle forged with holy magic is need to get rid of these vampires. "Garlic ain't gonna cut it." They need…something like Sidia, the holy sword.
The vampires keep attacking, and Darres curses because he'd promised to protect everyone who's life was in danger by being around Ishtar in order that "none of us will ever have to see her cry again…"
(sound effects: Ryaaaaaa!)
There's a burst of light and a vampire howls in pain. Darres and the vampire look up, shocked. A serious-looking Yujinn says "Finally!" Not the fastest rescue on record." The vampire asks who dared to cast the spell and…it's Laphiji!!!!! Not only that, but behind Laphiji stands Lady Ramia. "Don't your pointy ears work, Sharlen?" aks Ramia. "I told you to stay away…from my people!"
Laphiji starts another spell, but Sharlen makes a hasty retreat by turning into a bat and flying away. Before flying away, however, Sharlen comments on Laphiji's skill and says that they'll meet again soon. Laphiji is told by Lady Ramia to get Sharlen and bring him back alive since she wants to talk to him…
[Scene: Ishtar in her room in Ramia's palace]
In a palace bed Ishtar wakes up wondering if it's morning, only to find after glancing out a window that it's still night. She sticks her head out the door to ask Jill and Krai what's happening, and they reply that there's been a vampire attack. A horrified Ishtar imagines kitty-Duzzell growling with blood dripping from his fangs as tine people panic. "A vampire?!" Duzilla gone wild!!! Duzie you couldn't have!! Could you?!"
[Scene: Lady Ramia and Murra in the palace]
Murra apologizes that Ramia has run into her again, since Murra had promised that Lady Ramia would never have to see her again. Ramia says that she supposes it isn't Murra's fault. Ramia also reveals that Laphiji's been monitoring the conversations over Darres' mirror. She confirms that all her sons are adopted, but adds the fact that Seiliez is the son of Murra…AND Lady Ramia's late husband. This makes Seiliez a blood descendent of Phelios…
"So if Ishtar…" ponders Darres, when suddenly Ishtar runs into the room asking "Where's the vampire? Was he hurt? What did you do to him?" Shocked looks and sweatdrops abound as Darres, Murra, and Ramia stare at Ishtar. "Your majesty!" says Darres, while wondering what Ishtar is babbling about now. Murra, meanwhile, notices that Darres called Ishtar "your majesty" and wonders if this is the girl they're fighting over, "the one Seiliez wants so badly." She smiles and thinks Sheesh, no wonder he's been drooling over me! "Your majesty…if you…if you really do love him…then take him. And take good care of him" she says out loud. Ishtar is confused at what Murra means, but Murra turns to leave. She tells Ramia that she hopes she hasn't caused Ramia too much trouble and that she doesn't expect to see Ramia or Seiliez any more. Darres calls out to her, and Murra thanks Darres for his help. Without Darres she could never have met Ishtar, explains Murra. "You're right" she informs Darres, "She is sweet [referring to Ishtar]. But if she's worried about the health of a few vamps, I'd keep a close eye on her behavior." With that Murra bids the "brave knight" farewell and good luck. She has a point (about watching Ishtar) thinks an exasperated Darres.
[Scene: Running kitty-Duzell in the woods]
Kitty Duzell stops running when he hears something…the sound of many meows. "Huh?" He then thinks about the kyawl family. "They're…worried about me."
Duzie sits there stunned.
[Scene: On a balcony stands Ramia and Ishtar]
Together Ramia and Ishtar are looking out into the night sky. Ramia's explaining to Ishtar the situation with her late husband. Basically, since she and her husband were cousins, he always treated her like a little sister (and never treated her like a wife).
Ishtar: "So he has a baby with another woman and then asked you to cover up the affair? What a jerk!"
Ramia: "YOU'RE TELLING ME?! He said he'd adopted Seiliez for me. The baby I'd always wanted. A year later I found out that Seiliez really WAS his son!"
Ramia adopted Laphiji and Vord to get even, so maybe the bastard Seiliez wouldn't end up with LaNaan. Ishtar asks her why she didn't just have a bunch of affairs and maybe have some kids with other men. "I could have!" yells Ramia, but…she says that she just loved him too much. She couldn't have done anything to hurt him, and more than anything she wanted to have his children. Ramia slumps to the floor, and Ishtar (and even Darres) looks concerned.
Unexpectedly (or at least to the great surprise of Ramia) Ishtar smiles and says "Aunt Ramia, you did have his children. You raised them together, as a family!" Ramia doesn't quite understand, so Ishtar explains further. "They're as close a family as any three brothers. Actually, Laphiji and Seiliez might be a bit closer than that. My only family is an adopted one. But they love me…and I love them…as much as if we had the same parents. Maybe more. Bloodlines don't determine who you love. When I think about the warm hands that held mine…those gentle eyes…I didn't have a mother or father, but I was never lonely." Ishtar smiles and closes her eyes. "I know, let's just forget about this whole conversation!!" Both Ramia and Darres open their mouths in shock, but Ishtar quiets them (first by yelling quiet and secondly by telling Darres that it's an order, LOL). To counter the effects if word has spread about the truth of the princes' origins, Ishtar tells Darres to inform his men that all three princes are the result of her uncle's affairs and also to tell his men to keep that "fact" quiet. By telling the men this, the information will have spread throughout all LaNaan by the next night.
"Are you nuts?!" yells Darres, but Ishtar doesn't answer. Lady Ramia excitedly thanks Ishtar "for everything" while Ishtar happily explains mentally to herself that now Ramia can't possibly hold her to the marriage promise even if Seiliez wins the fight.
At least now I can relax… thinks Ishtar.
